You can easliy prepare the oven kebab which is the most popular food in Northern Cyprus at home by choosing the right lamb meat from the butcher. You can prepare oven kebab by choosing lamb leg or shoulder. Between 400-450 gr lamb meat would be most preferred weight for one porsion.


4 potatos – 2 onions – 2 gralic – 3 tomatoes – !/2 lemon – 1/2 olive oil – 2 two tablespoons of butter – 5 bay leaves – 1 tablespoon of thyme – 1 tablespoon of black pepper -½ tablespoon salt

Peel the potatoes and cut them in half. Chop the onion and tomatoes into rings. Place the meats and potatoes in the baking tray. Add water, half a lemon and salt into the meat and mix them. Add totatoes and onions. Spread the butter by cutting them like small cubes and put some liquid oil. Place spices and leaves under the potatoes. Prepare oven tempature to the 250C and bake for half an hour in the lowest floor of the oven and then for an average of 1 more hour on the upper floor. Add more water if the water level is low.
